We continually monitor improvements for bicycling on the Rickenbacker Causeway. Most recently we formed an ad hoc committee focused on the Bear Cut Bridge reconstruction project. Our goal for this committee was to ensure that consideration would be given to bicyclists and pedestrians in all planning and implementation related to the project. We also took the position that at no point during the project would bicyclists and pedestrians be prohibited from using the bridge. Our participation helped to see the bridge project to completion. The bridge now offers 14-foot multiuse paths in both directions for its entire length.
